Visions of the Past
– The picnic grounds at Belmont Lake State Park, circa 1940. This hand
colored linen postcard was published by the Tomlin Art Company, in Babylon, NY.
Postmarked to a friend in Stamford, Connecticut, the sender of the postcard
wrote “Hello. Do you like to exchange view cards with me?” The crowds of eager
picnickers are not a good example of the social distancing that we need to
defeat the COVID-19 epidemic of 2020. But, it is a good example of what we can
look forward to in the future.
Postcard from the historic collections of the Town of Babylon History Museum, Town of Babylon, NY.
