Muncie Island, Canoeing (Visions of the Past)

Visions of the PastCanoeing at Muncie Island, circa 1913. A few times a year, someone invariably asks, “Where is Muncie Island?” A bit sarcastically, I usually reply, “It lies under Ocean Parkway.” The island that had been owned by the Muncie Family for over a century was destroyed for construction of the Ocean Parkway in the early 1930s. This charming postcard was published by Town & Country Estates, which tried to market the island as a resort community in the 1910s-1920s.
